Services to the Institute
I served on the Informals Committee in the role of treasurer from 2009-2014. I also served on the IPT Ball Committee (which I am sure that many of you have attended over the years) also in the role of treasurer (and general source of information as I had been on the Committee for way too long, and well past being able to be called an Informal!) from 2006 to 2013.
I then decided the time was right to join the “grown up” Committees and I am now serving on both the Trade Marks Committee and the Design and Copyright Committee. I also represent the CIPA Trade Marks Committee at the Marks & Designs Forum quarterly meetings at the UKIPO and have represented CIPA in the closed sessions at OHIM British Day.
I have now been elected by the membership to serve on CIPA Council for the next 2 years, where I hope that I can do the membership proud!
In the past I have also been an advisor at the CIPA advice clinics held at the UKIPO and have acted as a scrutineer for the CIPA elections.
Services to the Profession
I have served on the MARQUES Communication & Membership Team as for the past two years, and have just become Vice-Chair of the Team. Professional Career I began my career at the St Albans office of Marks & Clerk in 2005. Soon after I had joined the firm there was a management buyout of the office, and I was then working for Scott & York. I have remained there ever since, where I have risen through the ranks to the level of Senior Associate. The work I manage is very varied, including both large and SME clients, a mixture of technologies, and a mixture of Intellectual Property Rights of both a contentious and non-contentious nature.
Other Relevant Information
I am a friend of the British Museum and enjoy regular trips to the big smoke to wander round the exhibits. I am also rather partial to watching live music and can often be found lurking in music venues around the capital, as well as muddy fields in the UK and beyond, with some knitting or crochet in hand!
