Professional Career: 1989 to 1993 Frank B Dehn, London; 1993 to 2013 Murgitroyd & Company, Glasgow (Director of Murgitroyd 1998 - 2013; Member of Murgitroyd's Practice Board 2006-2013). Currently on one year sabbatical.

Services to the Institute: Previously member of Education Committee (1998-1999). Trustee of CIPA staff pension scheme. Member of Council since 2011.

Services to the profession outside the Institute: Interview by local BBC radio concerning patent issues. Have regularly given talks on the IP professions to universities.

Other relevant information: If re-elected, I would continue to represent those geographically removed from London – especially in the North. As the sole member of Council located in Scotland, I am re-standing both to ensure an improved geographic spread of Council and also in view of the Scottish independence referendum in September 2014 which, if carried, would significantly affect CIPA and members in Scotland.

I have a particular interest in training, and have experience of training assistants not only in UK, but also for Ireland, France and Germany. For several years I lobbied the JEB for out-of-London examination centres and was delighted when this was achieved.
