Patent Attorney, Engineering/Physics, Oxford

Patent Attorney, Engineering/Physics, Oxford

Enjoy a varied, interesting and, yes, exciting workload where you will be interacting with clients directly. There is very little foreign associate work if any. Provide strategic IP advice, be highly involved in contentious work including oral proceedings and enjoy a fun volume of original drafting to get your teeth into.

The technical mix is actually very broad so would suit someone who has an engineering background, or physics and the firm can accommodate your interests to a degree in terms of working with technologies that particularly appeal. Clients include a fast-growing medical devices company (where you will be very hands on) and a domestic goods manufacturer.

In respect to the longer term, the practice envisages growth in their Oxford office and has an excellent track record of taking attorneys into the partnership in a timely fashion. They have excellent staff retention; people don’t leave them very often, which we put down to the fact that they are able to deliver a great work-life balance and an inclusive, cooperative team environment.

There is flexibility in respect to the level of the attorney required from someone with a few years’ experience and yet to qualify to a few years’ post qualified experience. A cultural fit with the environment is key as well as an interest in the work and a disposition for learning new ways of delivering great outcomes.
