Other relevant information: If I’m elected onto Council, I will speak up for attorneys practising in smaller firms, for those practising outside of London and for those who (whether male or female, and for whatever reasons) seek a better balance between their professional and their personal lives. I am interested in joining the Business Practice Committee, to which I would bring experience of both large and small patent practices. I also hope to continue my work organising CPD and perhaps less formal events for attorneys outside London. Another of my aims is to strengthen communication between the Institute and its members, from students up to owner/managers and including both in-house and private practice attorneys. Several of my colleagues have worked in industry, and from this and the “overload” work which we do for industrial patent departments I can gain an insight into the issues faced on both sides of the profession.
