Professional career: Mewburn Ellis 1975-1983; Rolls-Royce plc 1984-1986; Renishaw plc 1986-2009 (latterly Chief Patent Attorney). Currently an independent consultant for Renishaw and other companies.

Papers or Articles: Article in CIPA Journal on the EPO Enlarged Board of Appeal case on divisional applications, G1/05 and G1/06.

Services to Institute: Member of CIPA’s Patents Committee since 2006. Drafted the Institute’s amicus brief to the Enlarged Board on case G1/05 and G1/06 (divisionals). Drafted the Institute’s response to the UK-IPO’s 2009 consultation on PCT reform. Panel speaker at a CIPA seminar on the EPC 2000.
