CIPA welcomes new Patent Judge
The recent announcement by the Lord Chancellor that Mr Michael Fysh QC had been appointed Judge for the Patents County Court has been warmly welcomed by Tim Roberts, the President of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (CIPA).
Tim said that "There is strong support amongst the members of the Institute for the Patents County Court. The appointment of Michael Fysh will enhance further the Court?s reputation for the speedy and efficient resolution of patent disputes."
Background Mr Michael Fysh QC obtained a degree in Chemistry at Exeter College, Oxford; he was called to the Bar in 1965 and has practised in all areas of intellectual property (patents, trade marks, registered designs and copyright). He was Editor of the Reports of Patent Cases and the Fleet Street Reports and Chairman of the Creative Industries Council of the Department of Trade and Industry. He has sat regularly as a deputy High Court Judge. He was sworn in as Judge of the Patents County Court on Thursday, 18 October.
