Other relevant information: The formation of IPReg and the change of regulation of the Institute have highlighted the differences between industry and private practice members and has increased the risk that CIPA may lose industry members; hopefully I can contribute towards keeping CIPA relevant for industry members. I am also concerned that the CPD regime now in force will make being registered unattractive to industry members and lone practitioners; anything I can do to ensure CPD is useful and not onerous must be worth pursuing. I would also like to try and build a productive relationship between members of our profession and the economists studying IP in the hope that good-quality economic research may be carried out.
