Papers or articles:  In relation to the consultation on “The Future of Official Examination of Trade Mark Applications on Relative Grounds” prepared article for July [2001] CIPA (with R.J. Gallafent), arranged Forum of November 2001 and prepared the CIPA response submitted December 2001.  “Classification: Examination of wide specifications and objections under Section 3(6) of the Act”, January [2002] CIPA.

Services to Institute:  Member of the Trade Marks Committee since 1997.   Chairman of the Trade Marks Committee since July 20001. Member of the Registration Practices Working Group (CIPA Representative) since 1998.  Attendee on behalf of CIPA  at   meetings  with  OHIM  at Alicante 1999 to 2004,  2006 and London 2007.  Actively involved in a series of consultation meetings on “The Future of Official Examination of Trade Mark Applications on Relative Grounds”  during 2001 and in the more recent consultations since 2005. Participant in te Trade Marks committee input to Registry consultations and wider EU consultations. Oversaw the Trade Mark committee input to the OHIM  consultation on  Opposition and Examination guidelines  in 2006.

Services to the profession outside the Institute:  Regular attendance at INTA Annual Meetings, Committee Member since 1996 on Trade Mark Office Practices and since 2001 on Meetings Committee.  Past attendee Meetings of Marques, ACG, APAA and AIPPI in Korea.  Member FICPI.

Other relevant information:  Participant in both Patent and Trade Mark events over many years including sporting events.  Past Captain of CIPA Cricket Team.  Present Member of  PAGS.
