It is my great pleasure to invite you to CIPA Congress 2017 on Thursday 28 September, 2017, at the Glaziers Hall in London.
Last year, rather than spread Congress over two days, we held a one-day event at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The feedback from delegates indicated a clear preference for the one day format and for CIPA to continue to provide high quality CPD, focussed on the IP issues that professionals face in their daily working lives. The Congress Steering Committee is hard at work planning the content for our next Congress, which has the theme ‘Navigating to the Future’.
I am delighted to announce that we have two high-profile keynote speakers confirmed for Congress 2017. Heli Pihalajamaa, Director Patent Law at the European Patent Office and Tim Moss, CBE, Chief Executive Officer and Comptroller General of the Intellectual Property Office. Both speakers are well known to CIPA’s members and the wider IP community and I am pleased to be able to tell you they will attend Congress and provide delegates with an update on their work.
Moving away from a two-day event has allowed us to be more flexible in terms of the venue we use and this year our host will be the historic Glaziers Hall in London, home to the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass. Determined to continue to provide compelling CPD at an affordable cost, we have set the standard member delegate rate at £275 + VAT, with the usual arrangements for early bird bookings, students, academics and non-member rates. With up to eight hours of CPD on offer and the usual high standard of expert speakers, I am sure you will agree with me that this represents excellent value.
The Steering Committee is hard at work planning Congress and you can see the programme as it develops. As ever, Congress sessions are subject to change depending on the availability of speakers but we hope to be in a position soon to publish a near complete programme.
I do hope that you will feel inspired to join us and I very much look forward to seeing you at Congress.
Chairman, Congress Steering Committee
