Mock Oral Proceedings

Mock Oral Proceedings

Via a live video-link between CIPA Hall and The Hague, watch EPO examiners and EPA Chris Mercer enact a mock examining division hearing.  Get a unique insight into the examiners’ thinking, not only during the oral proceedings themselves but also while preparing beforehand and during adjournments.  See how a highly experienced attorney navigates through objections on clarity, added subject matter, novelty and inventive step, with the chance to ask questions afterwards and to explore the issues raised with another top-flight EPA, Gwilym Roberts.

This event forms part of CIPA’s recently introduced two-part course on EPO proceedings.  Course delegates can use this opportunity to learn what happens in a typical examining division hearing, before presenting cases for themselves at mock hearings in Part II of the course.  However, we are also opening the seminar to other CIPA members.  It is aimed at European patent attorneys with relatively little experience of oral proceedings, who would like to develop the knowledge and the confidence to conduct a case for themselves.

Places are limited; please book early to avoid disappointment.
