Congress 2025: IP and AI – 9th October
This year’s Congress will be held at the Bristol Marriot Royal Hotel, Bristol City, on Thursday, 9 October 2025.

Andrea is a Chartered Patent Attorney and a former CIPA President. In the past she has served on the Institute’s governing Council and several of its committees.
Before her retirement she was a partner in a small regional IP practice, Greaves Brewster LLP, of which she had been a co-founder.
Andrea established IP Inclusive in 2015 to promote equality, diversity, inclusion (EDI) and wellbeing throughout the UK’s IP professions. Alongside many enthusiastic volunteers, she has developed the initiative into a well-connected and influential player in the IP sector. She became its first Lead Executive Officer in 2019.
Alex is normally occupied with oppositions, appeals, oral proceedings at the EPO, and lots of IP around chocolate, chewing gum, particles, polymers and electrochemistry. However, earlier this year, inspired by his firm’s 175th anniversary, he found himself playing the role of historian, delving into the archives of the Brunel Institute in Bristol to find out what the great Isambard Kingdom Brunel thought of IP, and what patents he had. The answers were not what he expected. But what has this got to do with AI? Alex will explain…
