PATENT ATTORNEY - INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY TEAM
CDT is looking to recruit a bright, versatile Patent Attorney with excellent interpersonal skills. Working within CDT’s IP team, you will support our 100 strong interdisciplinary research team, which has world-class expertise in physics, chemistry, engineering, micro-electronics, materials and life-sciences. CDT currently has a portfolio of nearly 400 patent families across a broad range of countries and has recently ramped up its filing activity to keep in-line with its fast-paced innovative R&D.
CDT is the European Research Centre for Sumitomo Chemical, our parent company based in Japan and our team is currently working on a wide range of exciting research topics including: Organic Photodiodes for x-ray and image sensors, Biosensors, Energy Harvesting and High Brightness Fluorescent Tags for biological applications. These projects range from fundamental understanding to optimising materials and devices for market applications.
CDT also has a strong Platform Innovation group, who are tasked with identifying and carrying out initial feasibility trials. Current projects range from novel refrigeration through to enhancing battery lifetime and ensuring efficient delivery of fragile molecules into plants.
You will hold a degree in a relevant discipline such as Physics or Organic Chemistry and be at least part-qualified as a European Patent Attorney and/or as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney. You must have relevant work experience as a Patent Attorney gained within private practice or industry. The role will require a strong understanding of IP, especially relating to patents, including extensive experience of drafting and prosecution before major patent offices.
