Job title
Patent Attorney/Assistant - Engineering, Physics or Materials Science – Galway

Keltie is an award-winning, people-focused European intellectual property firm. Living up to our founder's dream “to create something amazing”, we opened our Irish office in Galway in 2016. Since then, we’ve been delighted to work with fabulous clients ranging from MedTech start-ups to the owners of some of Ireland’s best-known brands.

As we see huge potential to continue our growth in Ireland, we seek a patent attorney or patent assistant with a background in engineering, physics or materials science to work with us in Galway.

The successful candidate will work closely with highly-experienced colleagues based in both Ireland and the UK and will make frequent visits to our UK offices.

The location

With stunning scenery and a vibrant business scene, the West of Ireland is a wonderful place in which to live and work. Galway hosts a thriving ecosystem of start-ups, spin-outs and multinationals and is famed for its cultural, social and leisure opportunities.

The role

You’ll help our clients in Ireland, the UK and elsewhere with a full range of patent and design issues, including drafting, prosecution, freedom-to-operate, portfolio management, oppositions and other contentious matters.

Your caseload will include some agency cases but the majority of your work will be with direct clients ranging from SMEs to large international companies. You’ll work closely with them to give strategic input with a commercial approach.

We award an initial one-year training contract to new entrants to the patent profession. Successful completion of that contract leads to the award of a permanent position as a patent assistant. Of course, we will also consider assistants who are already working in the profession, including those who may already be part-qualified. In either case, our renowned training will support assistants to complete the process of qualifying as a European Patent Attorney, a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and an Irish Registered Patent Agent.

The rewards

We pride ourselves on our flexible and supportive environment with excellent pay, benefits and collective bonuses. We also offer genuine potential for career progression, fully reflecting contribution to the firm’s success.

About you

You're energetic, articulate and at ease communicating with people on all levels.

You love commerce, especially the thought of building your business by helping others to build theirs. So, you want to be involved in business development, attending events and travelling to see clients wherever they may be.

You’re attracted by growing a young office while enjoying the support and opportunities of a front-rank firm, including spending time in the UK as well as in Ireland. We’ll support you to play a full part in the evolution of our innovative firm.

If that’s you, why not create something amazing for yourself too? It’ll be great to hear from you.
