Patent Assistant
Location: Abel & Imray’s Bath Office
Salary: Competitive (based on experience and qualifications)

Position: Permanent, full–time (hybrid working), although part-time will be considered.

We are looking for a driven individual with excellent administration, and organisational skills who is familiar with patent procedures and who can take the initiative in a fast-paced environment.
You will work under direction for some administration tasks / processes but will work autonomously alongside a Partner regarding the invoicing of clients and other support matters.
This role is slightly different from our IP administrator role. It would suit someone who enjoys patent administration but who also has strong organisational and communication skills for use in supporting the additional tasks mentioned above.
We value team collaboration as well as having the ability to operate independently. Our ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent attention to detail and strong IT skills.
You must be a highly organised person, able to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
-Invoicing, including liaising with the Partner and other attorneys to assemble monthly charges.
– Booking travel and accommodation, organising meetings, and conducting other work-related administration such as collating expenses.
– Liaising with clients and foreign attorneys.
– Preparation and filing of UK/European/International Patent applications.
Requirements
– Familiarity with the patents system and patent prosecution and experience in a similar position.
– Knowledge and understanding of the formal procedures relating to patent prosecution.
– Knowledge and understanding of the official forms used by the Intellectual Property Offices.
– CIPA Introductory Certificate in Patent Administration is desirable (but not essential).
– A good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook/Excel/Word).
– Familiar with OLF 2.0 and EPOline.
– Inprotech experience desirable but not essential.
– Prior experience of invoicing desirable but not essential.
