CIPA has been monitoring the development of the COVID-19 situation in the UK and around the world. We recognise that our staff and members are placed at slightly higher risk due to the degree of international travel and frequency of meetings and events held by CIPA. Following the Government’s announcement that the UK was entering the second stage of its response to COVID-19, delay not containment, the Officers and senior leadership team at CIPA have agreed the following actions:
- Staff will not be expected to travel to events outside of the CIPA office and we will support their decision if they choose not to
- Where staff are able to work from home, without significant impact on CIPA, we will enable them to do so
- We will be particularly sensitive to the needs of staff who have immediate family members who are particularly vulnerable. Staff will be encouraged to follow the advice of Public Health England if they develop symptoms of COVID-19
- We are not, at this stage, closing the office.
We are limiting access to the CIPA office to staff and members only, cancelling any events due to be held by external organisations. This will include the suspension of clinics usually held at CIPA or providing those clinics remotely by video or telephone conferencing. We will endeavour to facilitate Informals tutorials normally held at CIPA by video conferencing.
The April Council meeting will be by video conference. Committee and other CIPA meetings will also be conducted by video conference, where possible.
All future events will be continually reviewed and members informed as soon as is practicable if a decision has to be taken to cancel or postpone an event. As we are often dependent on volunteer speakers for events, we will potentially experience difficulties where firms, industry or individuals themselves impose travel or attendance restrictions. We will do our best to maintain our seminar and webinar programme but members are asked to be patient with us if we have to cancel or reschedule at short notice.
We will continually monitor the COVID-19 situation and update this statement as necessary.
