Richard Kennedy, Venner Shipley

Richard Kennedy is a partner at Venner Shipley. His technical background is in physics, software development and mathematics; he holds a PhD from Imperial College London and a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College Dublin. He has particular expertise in artificial intelligence and deep learning based technologies and much of his day-to-day work is in this area. The 2021 Legal 500 UK notes that he has “been at the forefront of debates around AI and IP” and has a “unique understanding in the machine learning field and understands the intricacies and depth of description required for prosecution support and exceptional claim breadth’.
