Michael Williams, Cleveland Scott York

Michael Williams is a European and Chartered patent attorney and is a partner at the firm Cleveland Scott York in London.  He has a BSc(Eng) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, London.  Michael spent six years as an Examiner at the European Patent Office before joining the patent profession in 1997.

Michael is experienced in drafting and prosecuting patent applications at both the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office.  His main areas of technical specialisation are in the fields of electronics, telecommunications and software. His work also encompasses the fields of electrical machines, as well as general mechanical work.

Michael is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and a Member of the Institute of Professional representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI). He is an active member of CIPA’s International Liaison Committee, and has spoken on aspects of European patent law in the United States, Canada and Japan.
