With extensive expertise in the field of design and engineering, Deborah specialises in drafting patent specifications, prosecuting patent applications through to grant, managing patent and registered design portfolios that include foreign patent families, and advising on patent and registered design strategy.

Deborah especially enjoys working with start-ups and scale-ups by helping them to identify and protect their IP to secure investment. She is also accomplished in patent searches, invention spotting, and carrying out IP audits.

Deborah is the head of the Scottish office as well as the space tech team and is often found attending and speaking at events around Glasgow and Edinburgh, for example, hosting workshops helping founders to get their IP “investor ready” and educating investors on IP due diligence and freedom-to-operate.

Deborah is also the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (“EDI”) Partner at Potter Clarkson as well as Chair of the firm’s Inclusivity Group. Roisin specialises in commercial dispute resolution, with a particular focus on intellectual property, practising primarily in the Court of Session and the UKIPO. She sits on the Law Society of Scotland’s Intellectual Property Accreditation Panel and frequently gives seminars on IP for various organisations, including the Faculty of Advocates, the Law Society of Scotland, the WS Society, the University of Edinburgh and the British Irish Commercial Bar Association. Roisin is currently a tutor in IP on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh and is also a CEDR-Accredited Mediator and Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

A partner in Potter Clarkson’s litigation and licensing team, Dave specialises in non-contentious intellectual property law, with historic experience in significant contentious patent matters. He specialises in the Life Sciences and Advanced Materials sectors, with a part of his practice focussing on the application of these technologies in sports and performance. Dave leads on IP Due Diligence services within Potter Clarkson as a core part of his practice, managing IP Due Diligence projects on behalf of investor clients, bringing together and co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams of patent, design and trade mark experts.

Dave also has substantial experience in drafting complex, multi-jurisdictional agreements including licensing arrangements, research and development agreements and collaboration agreements, as well as providing commercially focussed IP strategy advice for his clients. This IP strategy advice particularly includes undertaking audits for clients advising on trade secret protection, policy and key terms in agreements.

Andrew McDonald is an Associate in the contentious IP team with Burness Paull LLP. He regularly advises on contentious patent infringement and licensing disputes. Andrew has extensive litigation experience in the Court of Session and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property from the University of Oxford.

After spending 10 years as a Research Scientist in Munich and Cambridge, Claudia entered the patent profession in 2008 and held both in-house (for two Cambridge University spinouts) and private practice roles (in London, Cambridge and Edinburgh) before becoming an IP Entrepreneur in 2019. She is the Founder of Innovare IP, a full-service legal practice, and IP Bloks, a LegalTech venture.

Claudia also spent one year working in university research commercialisation in Scotland, engaging directly with the Scottish Microelectronics Centre at the University of Edinburgh.

She is the Chair of CIPA’s IP Commercialisation Committee and Vice-Chair of epi’s IP Awareness Working Group.  She is also a Member of the UKIPO’s IP Finance Advisory Group, CIPA’s Public Affairs Committe  and epi’s IP Commercialisation Committee, as well as a Professional Member of the Economy and Enterprise Committee of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Martin Brassell is an expert in the use of intellectual property (IP) in business finance, and the asset identification, scoring and valuation processes needed to facilitate this emerging market. He

is co-founder of Inngot Limited (www.inngot.com), which provides the innovative online platform needed to help businesses and lenders like NatWest and HSBC UK find and leverage IP value.

Martin has written influential publications on IP identification and financing for a range of organisations including national IP offices (UK IPO and IPOS), industry bodies (ACCA) and leading international organisations (OECD and WIPO). Most recently, he authored the UK’s Journey report on IP finance for the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO, 2023).

Neil has been a front-line Banker for 30 years and for the last 10 years, has been responsible for the strategy, proposition and risk for the global TMT sector.  A portfolio with a balance sheet of c£17bn.

Bucks born & bred; he learnt his trade with the early technology firms who based themselves in the Thames Valley Tech cluster & is applying this experience to his UK role.  His team are the no.1 supporter of the Tech sector & help businesses from university spin out to FTSE100 to get the 3B’s – get Backing, get Big & get Bought.

As a Freeman of the City of London (International Bankers) he likes to give back to the banking industry and the tech sector that have both served him well in his career.  He’s a strong advocate of the bank’s apprentice programme, Entrepreneur Accelerator and Mentor on the Imperial Ventures Mentoring Service (IVMS) for world class Imperial College spin outs.  He’s accredited by the Institute of Enterprise & Entrepreneurship and Board Advisor to some of the UK’s most exciting start-ups.

An Intellectual Property (IP) evangelist he has been the UK’s leading banker in developing innovative IP debt propositions to help unlock the £15bn funding gap for UK Scale Ups and recently shared his success at the World IP conference (WIPO) in Geneva.

Dr Bobby Mukherjee, Chief Counsel, IP & Technology Law – BAE Systems plc and Past President (2012-2014) of the IP Federation. He was the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) President for 2025. He previously served and currently sits on CIPA Council, and chaired the CIPA Internal Governance Committee in its formative stage.

Bobby is a qualified UK and European patent attorney with over 28 years’ experience of IP gained in private practice and at BAE Systems plc. He is currently the Head of IP (2009 -) at BAE Systems plc (a FTSE 30 company), which has one of the largest in-house IP teams in the UK.

Bobby has been named a Corporate IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property every year since 2015.
