Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

The purpose of the EDI Committee is to: support and help to implement CIPA’s commitment to EDI. The EDI Committee will uphold the values of CIPA’s commitment to EDI, that commitment being:

  1. Champion CIPA’s commitment to EDI;
  2. Uphold CIPA’s commitment to the values of EDI; and
  3. Act as a forum for discussion and the sharing of knowledge about EDI.

Responsibilities/Remit:

  • To advise Council on, and to carry out Council’s instructions on, all matters relating to the EDI;
  • Review, formulate and recommend policies and procedures relating to EDI within CIPA for approval by Council;
  • Challenge CIPA and its members in terms of practice, approach and development of EDI, particularly where progress is limited;
  • Liaise with external bodies (e.g. IP Inclusive, CITMA, EPO, UKIPO, etc.) and other CIPA committees to improve awareness of EDI in the IP field;
  • Advise Council on decisions that relate to EDI within CIPA’s internal policies, where appropriate;
  • Establish working groups within the Committee to undertake projects that relate to EDI within CIPA and the profession; and
  • Communicate with members on matters relating to EDI within CIPA and the profession.
