This webinar will provide an update on recent developments in IP apprenticeships, including the Patent Scientist/Patent Engineer Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship and the IP Paralegal Apprenticeship. Our speakers will outline the work done so far, the reasons behind it, and how members can support the next steps.

Annemarie is a highly skilled paralegal with over 25 years of experience, her responsibilities including the preparation and delivery of training and training materials for paralegals, the standardisation of work and the career development and continuing professional development for paralegals. Annemarie also manages a large portfolio of patents and designs, liaising closely with attorneys, outside counsel and clients.
Annemarie is currently the Chair of CIPA’s IP Paralegal Committee, as well as a Lead Course Tutor and Examiner for the official paralegal qualification of the UK registered patent profession. Annemarie gained the European Patent Administration Certification in 2022 and is also currently involved in the preparation of course materials for the CIPA advanced paralegal qualification.
Dr Bobby Mukherjee, Chief Counsel, IP & Technology Law – BAE Systems plc and Past President (2012-2014) of the IP Federation. He was the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) President for 2025. He previously served and currently sits on CIPA Council, and chaired the CIPA Internal Governance Committee in its formative stage.
Bobby is a qualified UK and European patent attorney with over 28 years’ experience of IP gained in private practice and at BAE Systems plc. He is currently the Head of IP (2009 -) at BAE Systems plc (a FTSE 30 company), which has one of the largest in-house IP teams in the UK.
Bobby has been named a Corporate IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property every year since 2015.
Sheila is a qualified UK and European patent attorney with over 40 years’ experience. She trained in private practice before joining the Shell in-house team. She then worked for the British Technology Group before returning to private practice with the firm of Lloyd Wise. She became a partner of Lloyd Wise in 1998 and has been a partner of Marks & Clerk since its merger with Lloyd Wise in 2007 until her retirement last July.
Sheila has been a CIPA Council member since 2020 and is the current Vice-Chair of the CIPA Education Committee as well as a member of CIPA’s Internal Governance, Patents, and Life Sciences Committees. She is also a member of the IP Inclusive Advisory Board and Careers in Ideas task group.
