Artificial Intelligence (AI) Committee

The purpose of the AI Committee is to take a strategic perspective on how developments in AI may impact the provision and delivery of IP services by the profession.

Responsibilities/Remit

  • To advise Council on, and to carry out Council’s instructions on, all matters relating to AI and its use by the profession.
  • To monitor and evaluate emerging tools and trends in the use of AI and to review, formulate and recommend guidance relating to AI and its use by the profession for approval by Council.
  • To review and advise Council on developments in the regulation of the use of AI by organisations such as IPReg and epi.
  • To review and advise Council on issues relating to the use of AI, such as insurance and client relationships, and any potential threats posed to the profession by emerging AI tools.
  • To liaise with external bodies such as the IP Federation, the UK IPO, WIPO, EPO, CITMA, etc. on developments in the use of AI.
  • To devise and deliver education and training in the use of AI by members.
  • To provide resources for members or to signpost resources where these are available from external sources.
