This session is a guide to the use of arbitration as a preferred way of resolving commercial disputes arising in the life sciences and technology sectors. The Taylor Wessing experts will explain the basics of how commercial parties select arbitration in their contracts, the benefits of arbitration to life sciences and technology companies, and how to avoid pitfalls. They will illustrate the talk with war stories and other examples from their experiences conducting numerous commercial, often international, arbitrations.
Jessie Prynne is a senior associate in Taylor Wessing’s Disputes and Investigations team in London. She has a broad commercial disputes practice, with a sector specialism in life sciences, and has worked closely with Laurence for a range of pharmaceutical and biotech companies, from growth stage organisations to household names.
Laurence Lieberman is a partner in Taylor Wessing’s Disputes and Investigations team in London. He leads the Life Sciences Commercial Disputes practice at the firm, acting for numerous international pharmaceutical companies, as well as growth stage biotech companies. He has also specialised in technology and financial disputes for over 20 years. He has advised and acted on more than 10 commercial arbitrations in the last 5 years with a total claim value exceeding USD 300m. He is head of the firm’s India Group, he leads the Israel disputes practice, and is the co-head of the firm’s Wellbeing offering.
