The webinar is aimed at Fellows who support trainees in their preparation for this challenging examination. The webinar will build on the recent webinar for trainees and will provide guidance on how to help candidates with their approach the examination. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

Martin Hyden, Wynne-Jones IP

Martin Hyden, Wynne-Jones IP

Martin has over 30 years’ experience in IP, both in-house and in private practice. In addition to positions in the UK, he has worked in the US, Japan, France, and Belgium. His in-house experience makes up almost half of his career and was spent mainly in the oilfield services sector, with short periods in the defence industry and in the semiconductor testing industry. In addition to the traditional activities of preparing and prosecuting patent applications, he has experience of managing and prosecuting design and trademark matters and managing global IP portfolios.

He has extensive experience of presenting cases in hearing and oral proceedings, particularly in opposition and appeal proceedings at the European Patent Office

He has spoken at numerous IP conferences in the UK and other countries and has published articles on IP in specialist IP journals and in other business publications.

He has been rated as an IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property magazine.

He has previously been a member of the European Qualifying Examinations committee on behalf of the European Patent Institute and is currently an examiner for the UK Patent Examination Board, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys Education committee.

Martin is the head of the engineering team at Wynne-Jones IP Ltd.

Sarah Boxall runs her own business as a UK and European Patent Attorney, providing strategic advice on all aspects of Intellectual Property (IP) to clients. Her passion is seeing companies grow and succeed through exploitation of their IP. She is well versed with fund raising and due diligence, having assisted both her clients and venture capital firms to raise many millions of pounds. Sarah’s technical areas of expertise are in chemistry, mechanics, medical apparatus and all aspects of biology.

Sarah is also a committed teacher and examiner of trainee patent attorneys and bears the heavy title of Chief Examiner for the PEB Final Diploma exams.
In her spare time, Sarah is a busy semi-professional cellist with her services being sought all over the UK, Europe and the Channel Islands, together with a waiting list for cello lessons.

Sarah got to where she is today through a BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry and Pharmacology from the University of Southampton and a PhD in Neuropharmacology from University College London. She joined the patent profession in 1998 and spent 4 years in private practice in London followed by 4 years in industry before returning to private practice in Cambridge. In September 2009, Sarah set up her own firm, Boxall Intellectual Property Management Ltd.
