Junji Shinohara majored in Mechanical Engineering at Osaka university. After graduation, he joined Bosch in Japan, where he engaged in product development. From 2000 to 2004, he worked at the development center of Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany, focusing on the development of direct-injection gasoline engine systems. From 2005 to 2009, as a technical project leader, he led international projects across Europe, the U.S., Taiwan and Japan, and was involved in the development of motorcycle ABS (Anti-lock Brake System). He qualified as a Japanese Patent Attorney in 2011. His practice mainly covers patent prosecution in automotive-related technologies, control systems, mechanical engineering, information and communication technologies, and software-related inventions. In 2020, he founded Shinohara Patent Office, where he is dedicated to supporting innovation in advanced engineering and digital technologies, and contributing to industrial development through intellectual property.

Rie Kawai specialises in chemistry. She engaged in research on highly effective chemical synthesis of natural/modified DNA and RNA oligomers and received her doctorate from Nagoya University in 2001. After working as a postdoctoral in U.S. (Wayne State University) and as a researcher at RIKEN and a bio-venture company, she joined Olive International Patent Office in 2010 and was qualified as a Japanese Patent Attorney in 2014. She mainly handles prosecutions of outgoing patent applications and incoming patent applications in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, life science, material sciences, textile and paper products and also machinery fields. She has been a member of the European intellectual working group of the International Activity Center in JPAA since 2016

Tetsuya Chiba majored in electrical and electronic engineering at university. He joined DDI Corporation (now KDDI Corporation). He was involved in business planning, technology strategy, project management, and international standardization activities for communication network services. During his time there, he was qualified as a Japanese Patent Attorney in 2009 and as a Japanese Patent Infringement Litigator in 2011. He also participated in the ITU IPR Policy Revision Review Meeting and actively contributed to proposals as an expert on SEPs (Standard Essential Patents). From 2016 to 2023, he was based in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2024, he moved to IP Firm Shuwa, where he is primarily engaged in intellectual property management consulting services as a patent attorney with an understanding of business, management, and technology. He served as a member of the Industrial Standards Committee of JPAA in 2024, and as the Vice Director of the committee in 2025, as well as a member of the Intellectual Property Management Center and the International Activities Center of JPAA.

Kumiko Yamada is a founder of Yamada International Patent Firm. She specialises in software and electric engineering, such as image recognition, AI- related technology, semiconductor devices, and wireless communication. She earned a BA in law and a BSc in electrical engineering in Japan as well as MSc in the management of intellectual property from Queen Mary, University of London (2009). She qualified as a Japanese Patent Attorney in 2000 and as a Japanese Patent Infringement Litigator in 2006. Before establishing Yamada International Patent Firm, she had worked at Sony Corporation and NTT DATA Corporation as an in-house patent attorney. She has been a member of the European Intellectual Working Group of the International Activities Center in the JPAA since 2017 and currently a member of the main SACEPO at the EPO. She is also a member of AIPPI and APAA.
