Nils Rauer qualified in 2004. He is one of the founding partners of Pinsent Masons’ Frankfurt office, which launched as the third German office in 2019. Nils Rauer leads the firm’s German IP practice as well as the Pan-European Digital Single Market (“DSM”) team. He is also a member of the Global Sky Board, the body aiming for gender equality within Pinsent Masons.
Nils advises clients around the world primarily on media, copyright and data protection law, as well as on advertising and trade mark issues. His client portfolio is truly global with market leaders in various industries. Many of his clients engage Nils and his team when it comes to digital transformation and strategic development of tomorrow’s offerings. Some of the leading Internet service providers rely on his advice. He has been amongst the first lawyers in Europe who have negotiated license agreements relating to publishers’ ancillary rights.
Nils Rauer is regarded as a strategic advisor and experienced litigator. With his team, he supports the development and expansion of well-known brands. This also includes the enforcement of IP rights in court proceedings all the way to the CJEU in Luxembourg. His expertise is highly requested on many future technology topics – such as NFTs, AI or connected devices.
In addition to his work as a lawyer, he regularly lectures on current topics, including at the LMU Munich, at the universities in Mainz and Potsdam, as well as in Seoul, Vienna, Berkeley and Dublin. He is also a member of the GRUR’s expert committee on copyright.
