The 2025 Informals Foundation Lecture series continues with Patenting Biological and Medical Inventions on Tuesday 25 February 2025 at 05:30 pm given by Beth Ormrod (Kilburn & Strode LLP).

This session will focus on patenting biological and medical inventions. We will go on a whistlestop tour of various topics including medicines, biological molecules, and methods of diagnosis.

Beth Ormrod, Kilburn & Strode

Beth’s practice spans a variety of fields in the life sciences. Key areas of practice include stem cells, antibodies, tissue engineering, CRISPR-Cas9 and RNA technologies. She also has valuable in-house experience gained during a secondment at a multinational pharmaceutical company. She co-ordinates worldwide patent prosecution of large portfolios and complex IP strategies for large multinationals. She also works closely with her start-up clients to formulate IP strategies that support the client’s business and commercial needs, as well as preparing and filing foundational patent applications and assisting with freedom-to-operate analysis. Beth has experience of working with clients throughout all stages of clinical trial candidate development, including supporting them to obtain valuable patent and SPC protection.
