This webinar will be given by Chris Hall, 11 South Square, who will cover the basics on how to apply the Pozzoli test; comparing Pozzoli and “problem solution” and electing independent validity in English High Court Litigation. There will also be worked examples to provide a greater understanding in this webinar.

Chris Hall was called to the Bar in 2010, and practices from leading intellectual property chambers at 11 South Square.  He is well-established in all intellectual property disciplines, and his technical background gives him an edge in IT and technology actions. Indeed, Chris was described by Legal 500 in 2020 as having “particular expertise in IT and technology sector patent disputes.”  His clients range from blue chip companies and household brands to SMEs and individuals.

Chris graduated with a 1st in physics from Imperial College, and worked as an IT project manager before turning to law.

Chris has extensive experience in a wide range of patent disputes.  He presently acts for Lufthansa in relation to an aircraft passenger power supply system.  In 2019 he appeared for Philips against Garmin in relation to a GPS fitness tracker patent, whilst in 2018 he represented Clearswift in a software patent dispute and Apple in its multi-jurisdictional FRAND dispute with Qualcomm.  In the past, he has acted in litigation concerning patents as exciting as, amongst others, automatic lawnmowers, smart electricity meters, high pressure water jets, and pet flea treatments.
