    Andy Cauldfield, Håmsø Patentbryå

    Andy is a UK and European Patent Attorney, UPC Representative, Chartered Engineer and Associate Partner at Håmsø Patentbryå. He has a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law. Andy teaches candidates preparing for the EQE and UK final exams.

    Andy worked in private practice in the UK before joining Håmsø Patentbryå in Stavanger. He is now based in Håmsø’s Oslo office.

    Caitlin Heard, CMS London

    Caitlin is a highly experienced intellectual property litigator and solicitor advocate specialising in technology related disputes. She has acted on a number of ground-breaking cases across the full spectrum of IP rights, including one of the earliest cases in the UK dealing with infringement of Standard Essential Patents and FRAND licensing. Caitlin’s particular area of expertise is multi-jurisdictional litigation, and she has considerable experience providing strategic counsel and coordination of international litigation strategy.

    Caitlin has particular expertise advising clients on their IP strategy in respect of Standard Essential Patents and FRAND licensing disputes, and has acted on several standard essential patent disputes across a number of jurisdictions. Caitlin has co-authored a textbook chapter in “Intellectual Property in Electronics and Software” (published by Globe Law and Business in 2019), relating to standard setting, competition law and FRAND licensing in Europe.

    Kyrre Tangen Andersen, CMS Stavanger

    Kyrre Tangen Andersen, CMS Stavanger

    Kyrre Tangen Andersen works both in CMS Kluge’s department for IP, Technology & EEA and in CMS Kluge’s Energy, Industry & Climate Department. He is also active in CMS Kluge’s Litigation and Public Procurement Department, and has a broad practice that involves assistance related to strategic IP management, development projects and litigation within all areas of IPR, with a special focus on technology and energy industries.

    Andersen is an experienced litigator and has participated in several large cases both before the ordinary courts and before courts of arbitration, including disputes related to oil and gas contracts (with a very substantial amount in dispute), as well as patent and general IP infringements.

    Sebastian Greding, Berggren GmbH

    Sebastian heads Berggren’s Munich office, where he juggles client acquisition, marketing, attorney work, and internal law firm politics alongside many administrative tasks.

    As a patent attorney, he assists clients in crafting the most effective IP strategies tailored to their inventions, business cases, and overarching business strategies. By deeply understanding both the technology involved and the business landscape, he ensures robust protection of their IP assets. This entails close collaboration with clients to deliver tailored IP protection solutions. His technical fields include medical inventions, software (including ML and AI), and general engineering.

    Before joining Berggren in 2023, Sebastian was a partner at a boutique law firm in Munich. He started his IP career at well-renowned patent law firms in Munich and Düsseldorf.

    Rob Valkass, Håmsø Patentbyrå AS

    Before joining Håmsø, Rob spent nearly eight years as a patent examiner at the UK Intellectual Property Office, where he was responsible for searching and examining applications in several areas of technology, focusing on business methods, blockchain, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other computer-implemented inventions. Rob has also worked with several national intellectual property offices on harmonisation and quality improvement projects and to deliver training.

    Laila Dahl has worked as patent examiner in the ICT section at the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO)/Patentstyret since 2013. She is part of NIPO’s interdisciplinary medical technology section and participates in quality reviews and development of Examination Guidelines. Laila holds a Cand.scient. degree in Informatics from the University of Oslo.

    Josh McLennon, Håmsø Patentbryå

    Josh began his training as a UK and European patent attorney in 2019 at a top-tier intellectual property law firm in London, before joining Håmsø in 2023. Josh is a fully qualified European Patent Attorney, and specialises in all things mechanical engineering.

    Josh has been an active member of CIPA as a member of the Diversity and Inclusion committee, as well as serving on the IP Inclusive Advisory Board as Secretary and co-leading the IP & ME community for minority ethnic professionals in the UK’s IP sector. Josh is based in Håmsø’s Oslo office.

    Petter Andrésen, Bryn Aarflot AS

    Petter has more than 20 years of experience in creating value with intellectual property rights, from both IP agencies and the industry, most recently as an IP Operations Manager at Yara International. Now leading Bryn Aarflot’s team of patent administrators, he is involved in all processes in Bryn Aarflot’s patent department to ensure efficient administration of the clients’ IP rights.

    Petter has extensive experience in procedures related to the filing of patent applications, management of global patent and trademark portfolios and renewals, registration of Unitary Patent and EP validations, employee inventions and compensation, filing strategies, as well as responsibility for maintenance of IP management systems. Petter’s experience from industry and IP agencies ensures an optimal customer journey for Bryn Aarflot’s clients through services tailored to their specific needs.

    Petter is both EPO certified patent administrator (EPAC, 2022) and EUIPO certified trademark/design paralegal (2021-2022), and is active as vice-chair in NAIPA (Norwegian Association for IP Administrators). Petter has also previously served as board member of NIP (Norwegian Association for IP Managers).

    Bhuvnesh is the in-house IP Counsel at Heaten AS, with more than 12 years of experience in IP. He has worked at a number of product-based multinational companies throughout his career, working closely with European, US, and Indian IP Attorneys throughout. He also worked as a patent searcher for a number of years, providing clients with various different types of search results and analysis.

    Bhuvnesh has a Bachelor of Engineering in computer science and a green belt Six Sigma certification. He is currently based in both Oslo and Kristiansand (Norway).

    Grétar Ingi Grétarsson, Nordic Patent Institute

    Grétar Ingi Grétarsson serves as the Vice Director of the Nordic Patent Institute, contributing significantly to the advancement of intellectual property in the Nordic region.

    With a broad expertise in patent law, intellectual property strategy, and international and political IP matters, Grétar has worked closely with other patent authorities and international organizations such as WIPO and EPO, enhancing his insight into the global patent landscape. Through his efforts in promoting the patent search services of Nordic Patent Institute he has built a strong global network within the patent community.

    Grétar holds a law degree from the University of Iceland and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) at the Max Planck Institute in Munich. His academic background, along with his extensive professional experience, provides him with a well-rounded understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of intellectual property law.

    Ed is a European and Chartered UK Patent Attorney based in Stockholm, Sweden. Throughout his career, Ed has handled patent matters for a range of clients across a range of technologies, with particular technical expertise in the field of software inventions (including artificial intelligence). He has a keen interest in the development of the IP profession, and has been involved in groups both in Sweden and across Europe looking into the opportunities and challenges of AI technology in the patent industry. Ed has been recognised as a Rising Star by MIP for five years running.

    Emma Blake, Konnexus Advokatfirma AS

    Emma qualified as a UK solicitor working for a number of years specialising in IP law and commercial contract law. After moving to Norway she has worked as an IP manager in the maritime sector, working with innovation and IP processes as well as the management of IP in large innovation and collaboration projects. Emma is also a Norwegian qualified advokat and now works with SME’s and start-up companies, helping them to develop IP management strategies as well as supporting them with commercial contract management and negotiation.
