Jon Markham, Beck Greener

Jonathan is a partner at Beck Greener in London. He joined Beck Greener in 2009, having previously worked in-house for Dyson. His background is in physics, with a PhD in organic LED displays. Jonathan is a contributing author to the CIPA Black Book, the standard reference text for patent attorneys. He is a regular speaker and presenter.

James Porter, UK IPO

James Porter works at the UK’s Intellectual Property Office as Deputy Director in the Policy and Legal Division. He is head of the Legal Section and also a hearing officer in relation to patents matters. James is responsible for UK patents legislation and practice, as well as having some wider responsibilities for IP legislative change. He has led two Parliamentary teams taking Government Bills on IP through Parliament, and has recently been responsible for aspects of IP legislation connected to the UK’s exit from the EU. He joined the Office as a patent examiner, following a PhD in condensed matter physics.
