Event Overview

The EPO is ready to perform its duties in relation to the Unitary Patent and has introduced transitional measures to support users in an early uptake of the Unitary Patent.  The two transitional measures are filing an early request for unitary effect and filing a request for delay of the grant decision.  There are thus new forms and changes to the EP register which will be implemented when the Unitary Patent system comes into effect in the coming months.

This webinar will explore the practical aspects of the tasks that paralegals are likely to be involved with in relation to the Unitary Patent, including when and how to file a request for a Unitary Patent and how this will be recorded on the EP register.  Other practical tasks which will be performed centrally at the EPO such as renewals and the recording of transfers or licences will also be discussed.   Finally, the webinar will also explain how to take advantage of the transitional measures and the effects of doing so.

Please note that opt out requests will be filed at the UPC and not at the EPO and thus the practical aspects of filing an opt out request will not be covered in this webinar.
