Dr Ian Lambert is a Patent Attorney with 30 years’ experience. Ian handles a wide range of technology including chemistry, chemical physics, sensors, mass-spectrometry, instrumentation, textiles, laser based inventions, life sciences, medical devices and medical physics, materials, nanotechnology, plasma etching and semiconductors. He also has experience in registered designs and unregistered design right (UDR).

He acts for a wide range of clients including multinationals, SMEs and universities. Ian has represented clients at Opposition and Appeal hearings before the European Patent Office. He also has experience of US Inter Partes Review (IPR) and Post-Grant Review (PGR) patent revocation procedures. Ian is experienced in IP portfolio management and in Board level IP planning and strategy.

Ian is one of the architects of Wynne-Jones IP’s dramatic growth in recent years, making contributions in areas such as business strategy, entrepreneurship, growth management and business innovation.

Ian is the Chairman of the Board of Shareholders of AIPEX BV, a unique Pan-European IP law firm that Wynne-Jones IP has co-founded.

Ian undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Bristol after obtaining a PhD in chemical physics. This gave him hands-on experience in technical fields such as high resolution spectroscopy and molecular dynamics, synchrotron radiation, time-of-flight mass spectroscopy and spectrometry, and laser analysis of molecules. Ian is a co-author of over twenty peer-reviewed papers relating to this research.

Ian regularly travels to the US and South East Asia on business, an experience he enjoys very much. He acts as representative patent attorney for Wynne-Jones IP on trips to SE Asia.

Rachel leads the in-house IP team responsible for Johnson Matthey Plc’s Hydrogen Technologies business and its Corporate Research function, and sits on JM’s IP Leadership Team.  After training and qualifying as a UK and European patent attorney with a leading UK firm, Rachel joined JM in 2012.  Since then, she has held roles providing full-service IP support to a range of JM business units at different stages of their maturity cycle, developing and implementing tailored IP strategies.  In addition to core IP work, she has advised on M&A transactions, high impact technology licensing deals and complex JDAs, working as a valued business partner to senior stakeholders.  She has developed a strong interest in IP Operations since her involvement in implementing a new IP management system in 2017, and more recently has led a successful project to transform JM’s use of its IP data to drive strategic insight and improved portfolio management decisions.

Elliott is a leading expert in deep-tech and emerging technologies with a technical foundation in optoelectronics (PhD Physics). His scientific expertise allows him to bridge the gap between complex innovation and robust IP protection, ensuring that emerging ideas translate into valuable, defensible assets.

Elliott has significant experience in registered design protection, overseeing a dedicated team that streamlines the process for businesses seeking to safeguard the visual identity of their products.

Simeon is Communications Lead for the One IPO Transformation Programme. He has worked in public sector communications for 15 years, having previously worked in a variety of comms roles at the Office for National Statistics and UK Statistics Authority. Simeon joined the IPO in 2020 and acts as a key link between IPO developers and customers. In his spare time, Simeon is an avid gamer and a Tae Kwon-do instructor.

Chris is Patent Subject Matter Expert for the One IPO Transformation Programme. This involves working with the development team and the wider IPO to help ensure that the new system meets the IPO’s needs. He has been a patent examiner for over 20 years, working primarily on chemical applications. Outside of work, Chris enjoys watching a wide variety of sports and is a fan of Coventry City.

Dr Bobby Mukherjee, Chief Counsel, IP & Technology Law – BAE Systems plc and Past President (2012-2014) of the IP Federation. He was the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) President for 2025. He previously served and currently sits on CIPA Council, and chaired the CIPA Internal Governance Committee in its formative stage.

Bobby is a qualified UK and European patent attorney with over 28 years’ experience of IP gained in private practice and at BAE Systems plc. He is currently the Head of IP (2009 -) at BAE Systems plc (a FTSE 30 company), which has one of the largest in-house IP teams in the UK.

Bobby has been named a Corporate IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property every year since 2015.

Simon has a Chemistry (with Biochemistry) degree from Bristol University and qualified as a UK patent attorney in 1990. He became a European Patent Attorney in 1992 while with Kilburn & Strode and joined J A Kemp in 1994. He became a partner in J A Kemp’s biotechnology group in 2005 and moved to Schlich on the south coast in January 2022.

Simon handles patent and trade mark work in a wide variety of life science, chemical and pharma fields, including stem cells, human genes and genomics, drug delivery systems, contrast agents, GM crops, algae technology and CRISPR technology. He also handles mechanical work ranging from drones to electric vehicle charging. He works for a broad variety of clients ranging from individuals, SMEs and private clients up to UK universities and biotechnology start-ups. He also acts for EU and US genomics and academic institutions.

Simon chaired CIPA’s Life Sciences Committee for 20 years and relinquished that role earlier this year. He still Chairs the epi Biotech committee. He is a member of CIPA’s Council, Patents Committee and International Liaison Committee. He is a member of epi Council and the By-Laws committee and has been selected to be a member of SACEPO.

He is currently the President of CIPA for 2026.

He enjoys wine, gigs, playing the sax, running and cycling.
