Victoria is Head of IP at IQE plc, the foremost compound semiconductor manufacturer in the UK. IQE began manufacturing compound semiconductor materials in Cardiff in 1988 and now has operations across the UK, US and Taiwan which supply to the global semiconductor industry. Victoria has been a patent attorney for over 15 years, at IQE since 2021 and before that at Rolls-Royce. She is responsible for IQE’s IP strategy covering innovation capture, filing, risk management and litigation. She also inputs on partnership and collaboration agreements to ensure IQE realises the IP value in its contracts and technology partnerships.
Andrew is Head of Commercialisation at the University of Bristol and leads the team responsible for the commercialisation of the University’s research outputs. Until recently he was Head of Health and Life Science Commercialisation at the University where he worked with academic colleagues to facilitate the translation and commercialisation of a broad range of technologies and healthcare interventions, via licensing and new venture creation.
Andrew has 20 years’ experience in Technology Transfer roles and is an experienced non-executive director who currently serves on the board of a number of therapeutic, medical device and public health focused spin-out companies.
Patent Officer at the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), where he manages a large number of attorneys advising on all aspects of intellectual property underpinning the MOD’s annual £21bn+ spend with industry.
Tim is best known as the author of the CIPA FD3 Study Guide, and as the former Principal Examiner for FD2. Tim is a tutor for various commercial organisations for the UK and European exams.
Andrew currently manages an examination group and our patents practice team within the new Secure Patents directorate. He previously spent four years in Patents Legal Section where he provided legal assistance on both PCT matters and the Office’s digital transformation programme. Prior to this Andy spent three years in Legal Section advising on patent formalities matters, including extensions of time, assignments, and litigation queries. Throughout the majority of his 27 year career in the IPO Andy has worked exclusively in patents administration, managing various formalities sections and the Office’s litigation section before joining Patents Legal. Andy has spoken at the CIPA Paralegal Conference on numerous occasions.
Michael works together with attorneys, intellectual property firms and departments around the world to help them realize their business development goals. He has specialized in delivering business opportunities in the IP legal field with both clients and associates around the world since 2003, establishing BDforIP in 2015. He has a proven track record in international sales, account management, and business development, as well as strong client-facing skills, experience at dealing at all levels of an organisation and identifying business opportunities.
