LES B&I 2022 Annual Conference

LES B&I 2022 Annual Conference

LES Britain & Ireland are thrilled to announce that the 2022 Annual Conference will take place in LONDON this October!

LICENSING – ENABLING THE GLOBAL BUSINESS OF IP
Monday, 10 October 2022
Wesley Euston Hotel

Conflicts and challenges over the past few years have exposed cracks in the tenets upon which the concept of the global economy and an international IP system has been assumed.  However, this period of turmoil, not least the response to Covid 19,  has also demonstrated how future opportunities can be forged within a new worldwide framework. Licensing has over the years proved to be an effective tool for the sharing of knowledge and the opening up of new markets and sectors. Therefore, the LES Britain & Ireland Annual Conference will, with a roster of experts in the field, explain how through licensing, the challenges can be met, and the spirit of cooperation reinvigorated.

Keynote Speaker: Lord Justice Sir Colin Birss

Conference sessions will include:

  • Challenges that licensing faces in cementing the global economy
  • Perspectives on how university IP licensing contributes to the global business of IP
  • Valuation of IP, restructuring and insolvency
  • Current developments and challenges for licensing in the life sciences sector
  • UPC and licensing
  • Metaverse / NFTs – modern innovative licensing

The main conference will be followed by our full-day LES100 Training Course, “Commercialising IP through the Power of Licensing” on Tuesday, 11 October 2022 at the CIPA Offices. This is the introductory course in the Licensing Executives Society’s Intellectual Asset Management Series and it is designed for those who are relatively new to licensing.

It is specifically aimed at:

  • SMEs who require an introduction to licensing Intellectual Property (IP),
  • Those who are new to or considering a career in licensing and technology transfer,
  • Lawyers and Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys looking for greater familiarity with the business of IP licensing,
  • Entrepreneurs who need to understand the value of their IP,
  • Technologists who want to understand how to identify and monetise IP,
  • Those working in university technology transfer, and
  • Students interested in learning the basics of IP and how to commercialise IP through licensing.
