Outstanding opportunity to join a highly reputable, full service Patent & Trade Mark practice in London. Our client, a leading name in the IP industry, seek a Pharmaceutical Patent Attorney to join the impressive Chemistry & Life Sciences team.

This opportunity would best suit a dual qualified Patent Attorney with a strong background in Pharma, Chemistry and/or Life Sciences.

The Role

  • Day to day you can expect to handle a workload consisting of approximately 70% contentious matters and 30% non-contentious advisory work. You must have relevant and demonstrable experience handling oppositions and contentious matters.
  • You will manage sophisticated patent portfolios for organisations ranging from emerging innovators to established international businesses.
  • You will advise on a broad range of intellectual property matters, including oppositions, appeal proceedings, freedom-to-operate assessments, validity opinions, patent drafting, and prosecution work.
  • Work sits across pharmaceutical technologies, with a significant proportion of matters connected to generic and biosimilar products, although applicants from other pharmaceutical backgrounds will also be considered.
  • The team are collaborative and team orientated. You must have expert communication skills both written and verbally as you will liaise regularly with internal and external stakeholders across varied scientific disciplines within a supportive and commercially focused environment.
  • You will build, develop and maintain strategic client relationships able to work independently and as part of a team.

Candidate Profile

  • Dual qualified Pharmaceutical Patent Attorney with substantial experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences patent work based in London.
  • Demonstrable exposure to contentious patent matters, particularly oppositions and related contentious proceedings.
  • Strong capability in developing commercially focused intellectual property strategies aligned with client objectives.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build lasting professional relationships internally and externally.
  • Commercially aware, proactive, and comfortable managing technically complex matters across a diverse client base.
