Support for Ukraine and its IP professionals

The Council of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) expressed its full support for the people of Ukraine at its meeting yesterday (Wednesday).

Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the ongoing conflict and, in particular, with our friends and colleagues in the National Association of Patent Attorneys of Ukraine (NAPA). Council has written to NAPA to convey solidarity with Ukraine, with NAPA and all Ukrainian IP professionals. We have also offered to help rebuild the intellectual property system in Ukraine when the time is right.

CIPA is working closely with the UK Intellectual Property Office to ensure that the UK’s economic sanctions against Russia and Belarus, including those relating to intellectual property, are enforced. CIPA will continue to monitor the UK Government’s response to the situation in Ukraine and will liaise with contacts in the UK Intellectual Property Office, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Department for International Trade.
