Electrostatic Direct Air Capture

Carbon dioxide levels are continuously rising, with 425 parts per million of CO₂ currently in the atmosphere. NEG8 Carbon focuses on capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere to combat climate change and reduce levels to a safer state.

NEG8 aims to develop affordable DAC systems with a goal that by 2035, 1000 modular DAC systems will be deployed that can capture 4.2 million tonnes of CO₂  annually, in hopes to mitigate 100 million tonnes of CO₂ every year by 2050.

Patent attorney Claire Rutherford from the firm definition IP highlights that “reducing emissions alone will not solve current climate issues” hence why NEG8’s  Electrostatic DAC system addresses the cost, scalability and deployment challenges associated with traditional DAC technologies. This system is designed to be efficient and affordable, making it feasible for widespread adoption.

The company, led by Ray Naughton, aims to deploy DAC systems to most parts of the world, using natural resources. DAC parks can be located in remote areas and utilise off-grid renewable power meaning there is no impact to the local grid.

Key features of NEG8 Carbon’s technology include natural power sources’, low sorbent regeneration temperature and the production of high-purity water alongside carbon capture. The system is capable of operating in cold environments and utilises an AI- driven control system to optimise performance and reduce costs.

NEG8 Carbon’s technology has already demonstrated exceptional performance and is set to be deployed in a full-scale pilot in Canada in 2025.
