Every day, millions of litres of clean drinking water are lost due to hidden leaks in underground pipes. Finding and fixing these leaks has always been a difficult, expensive, and disruptive job. But Origin Tech Ltd, a UK-based company, has created a revolutionary solution that changes everything.

Their patented product, Origin No Dig®, can seal leaks in water pipes without digging, locating the exact leak, or interrupting supply. It’s quick to apply, completely non-toxic, and works in seconds, repairing leaks from the inside of the pipe, safely and efficiently. The result? Fewer roadworks, lower costs, less CO₂ released, and most importantly, a huge reduction in wasted water.

Even more impressively, Origin Tech also developed Origin Orbit™, an AI system that uses satellite imagery to detect leaks and threats to water pipes from space. Combined with Origin No Dig®, leaks can now be found and fixed in a single visit, something that’s never been possible before.

Behind this innovation are John Marsden and Phil Surtees, engineers with backgrounds in oil and gas. They made a conscious decision to apply their expertise to something greener and more sustainable and have now built a company that’s saving billions of litres of water. To date, just one unit of Origin’s technology saves over 1.5 million litres of water and reduces 700 tonnes of carbon emissions every year. In 2025, 34 units will be deployed in the UK, preventing the waste of over 51 million litres of water daily.
