IP Ball
The CIPA IP Ball was held on 12 July, bringing together professionals, and guests from across the intellectual property community. The event included a mix of formal and social activities and was held to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Held at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, the evening began with a drinks reception, providing guests with an opportunity to speak with colleagues and make new connections. With over 200 attendees, the event reflected the breadth of the IP profession.
The 2025 IP Ball supported CIPA’s aim of encouraging engagement within the IP community. It provided an opportunity for patent and trade mark professionals — whether attorneys, trainees, or industry partners — to meet in a relaxed setting and recognise shared professional experiences.
Mixed-Gender Football
On 13 June 2025, the CIPA Mixed-Gender Football Tournament took place in London, bringing together teams from across the intellectual property community for a day of football and informal networking. The tournament supports CIPA’s ongoing aim of providing accessible activities that encourage member participation and interaction.
The event featured a schedule of matches with mixed-gender teams made up of patent and trademark professionals, trainees, and colleagues from firms and organisations across the UK. Participants demonstrated effective teamwork throughout the day, with contributions from experienced players as well as those new to the tournament.
Spectators and colleagues had space to observe the matches and speak informally between games, creating opportunities for networking in a relaxed setting. The atmosphere throughout the event reflected the collaborative nature of the IP profession.
CIPA intends to hold the Mixed-Gender Football Tournament again in 2026, continuing to provide a structured opportunity for engagement and participation across the profession.
Patent Attorney Golf 2025
In 2025, the Patent Attorney Golfing Society hosted three fantastic meetings, bringing together over 50 golfers for a series of friendly yet competitive events. Members competed for a prestigious selection of trophies, including the Great Seal, the Institute Cup, and the Harold Wade Cup, across both Stableford and Bogey formats. Throughout the season, PAGS members enjoyed the opportunity to play on some truly exceptional courses, including Swinley Forest Golf Club, Woking Golf Club, and Tandridge Golf Club, making 2025 a memorable year of competition, camaraderie, and excellent golf.
