Patentanwaltskammer

In November, a CIPA delegation made up of President Bobby Mukherjee, Matt Dixon, Vicki Salmon, Gwilym Roberts, Rob Jackson, and Greg Iceton met with members of the Patentanwaltskammer (PAK) in Munich.

The meeting covered the UPC system, practice before the EPO, the EQE, the amicus curiae submission for G 1/25, patent law harmonisation, EDI matters, and access to the profession. This meeting was important to reestablish formal relations with our counterparts in Germany and to discuss topics of mutual interest as the two largest professions before the EPO.

The meeting coincided with CIPA’s Munich Happy Hour, which was an opportunity for CIPA members working in Munich to network with colleagues and the leadership team at the third such event in the city.

ANIPA

CIPA maintains regular contact with European partner institutes through the biannual meetings of the Association of National Institutes of Intellectual Property Attorneys (‘ANIPA’) – the umbrella organisation for European national or regional institutes representing IP attorneys. CIPA provides secretariat support for ANIPA, which includes organising events, minuting of meetings, banking, and maintaining the website. In 2025, Past Presidents Alicia Instone and Chris Mercer, and the CIPA Vice President Simon Wright (accompanied by a member of staff) represented the Institute at meetings in Turin in May and Dublin in November.
