In 2025, Two IPs in a Pod turned five years old!
The award-winning podcast, hosted by Chief Executive Lee Davies and Honorary Secretary Gwilym Roberts, has been steadily growing since its inception, reaching over 60,000 downloads in 2025, with approximately 30% of our audience listening from outside the UK. Throughout the course of the year, we released 26 episodes and welcomed 43 guests to discuss some of the biggest topics in the IP landscape.
The most popular episode of the year was ‘Redefining Creativity: AI, Patents, and the Future of Innovation’ (3 January) with Rachel Free, the Vice Chair of the Computer Tech Committee at CIPA. Rachel discussed her studies in chemistry leading to her foray into artificial intelligence, sharing intriguing insights into human-AI collaborations and the ethical dilemmas they pose.
The second most popular episode was ‘Robotics Marvels and Intellectual Property Insights’ (20 February) with Tom Bridgwater, CIPA Honorary Informals Representative for 2025. Tom shares valuable insights about the challenges of transitioning to IP, the importance of supportive training, and the role of organizations like CIPA in fostering community among members.
There was also a very special episode to honour the UKIPO’s attaché week. ‘Inside the UK’s Global IP Attaché Network’ (19 March) saw Lee and Deputy Chief Executive Neil Lampert meet with the attachés responsible for China, the EU, India, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan, and Southeast Asia. They discussed the varied and complex work they do, from helping Scotch Whisky manufacturers protect their name in Brazil to assisting the UK Government’s reset in relations to the EU. EDI topics featured heavily on this year’s podcast, with a special conversation with Andrea Brewster to celebrate 10 years of IP Inclusive, an episode featuring CIPA’s EDI Committee chairs Greg Iceton and Alexandra Wood, and mental health training for managers with Penelope Aspinall from the Jonathan’s Voice charity, patent attorneys Sally Bannan and Joanne Donaldson, and Cathy Bailey from the UKIPO.
There was another series of INTA episodes, featuring Elisabeth Stewart Bradley, INTA’s 2025 President and Charles Randolph and Brian Beckham from WIPO, who discussed the organisation’s far-reaching influence on the intellectual property landscape.
