Event Overview

Canada has revised its patent regime to implement the Patent Law Treaty.  The new Patent Rules along with corresponding amendments to the Patent Act came into force on October 30, 2019. 

  • We will discuss most noteworthy changes that require significant practice adjustments and preparation by both the applicants and the agents
  • We will also discuss changes in to the Industrial Design Rules and their impact

Dr Poonam Tauh, MBM Intellectual Property Law

Dr. Poonam Tauh is a senior patent agent at MBM Intellectual Property Law. Her practice focuses on helping clients with drafting and prosecution of patents in Canada and around the world, in the fields of oil & gas, pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, biotechnology, polymers, medical devices, industrial/mechanical devices and systems. Poonam also has extensive experience in filing and prosecuting industrial design applications and applications relating to plant breeders’ rights.

Poonam has developed and managed large and small, domestic and foreign patent portfolios, and coordinated worldwide management and strategic positioning. She is also involved in the preparation of legal opinions relating to validity, infringement, patentability and freedom-to-operate.
