The Sustainability Committee continued to oversee the implementation of CIPA’s strategy and policies on sustainability.
Through working with Climate Action for Associations (CAFA), the committee received its first emissions report, detailing CIPA’s Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions from 2023 and an action plan, with suggestions on how these could be improved for 2024 as we work toward Net Zero.
The Committee also produced a new Expenses Form for CIPA staff and committee members to better capture data of how CIPA members are travelling, including their mode of transport and start and end destination. CAFA also provided resources for CIPA to use to develop a sustainability policy for staff and committee members, which the Sustainability Committee is looking to implement in the coming year.
The Committee has also been working on a new Sustainability Hub for the CIPA website, which will include environmental resources for members, articles and reports on CIPA’s sustainability activities, and case studies on inventors nominated for the Earthshot Prize, which will be launched in 2025.
