CIPA Informals Football Tournament 2024
The 2024 CIPA Informals Mixed Gender 5-A-Side Football Tournament proved to be an outstanding success, bringing together professionals from across the industry for an action-packed day of football and sunshine. Held on what turned out to be one of the hottest days of the year, the tournament was a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and sporting spirit of all who took part. Despite the sweltering heat, participants demonstrated remarkable energy, ensuring a day full of competitive but friendly matches.
The tournament saw an excellent turnout, with teams coming from a diverse range of firms and organisations, all eager to showcase their footballing skills and enjoy some friendly competition. Thanks to the unwavering support of both players and spectators, the event was a success, and we were thrilled to witness so many people come together to enjoy the day. The atmosphere was lively, and the sense of camaraderie was evident throughout the event.
After hours of exhilarating gameplay, we were proud to crown Dehns as the champions. They displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship, earning themselves a well-deserved victory. Congratulations to them for their outstanding performance and for setting the bar high for next year’s competition!

Cricket
CIPA’s Cricket Club took its first foray into ‘competitive’ cricket joining three other friendly teams in the North London T20 league, based in or around Alexandra Palace. Almost every game in the league went down to the final over (some to the final ball) and were played with the usual good nature. CIPA CC were on the end of three narrow losses before avoiding the wooden spoon by beating Highgate Taverners in the 3rd/4th playoff.
The season then reverted to its usual friendly games against familiar opponents; CIPA CC winning two and losing two. A highlight every year is a fixture against the Refreshers, a team from the Bar Association.
In September, saw nine brave patent attorneys (and three friends) head to France to take on Toulouse Cricket Club for CIPA CC’s tenth overseas tour.
A full report of the 2024 season was published in the CIPA Journal.
