Throughout 2023 we published 30 episodes of our award-winning podcast, Two IPs In A Pod, welcoming a total of 34 guests to talk about their specialist IP topics.
Two IPs, hosted by Chief Executive Lee Davies and Honorary Secretary Gwilym Roberts, has built a loyal following with listeners in the UK and around the world and by the end of the year had reached nearly 40,000 downloads.
The most popular episode of the year was the World IP Day episode, from 26 April, with Vandita Chandrani, Associate General Counsel IP at radiotherapy pioneers Elekta. The theme of World IP Day 2023 was “Women and IP: Accelerating innovation and creativity” and we celebrated by inviting Vandita onto the podcast to talk about female-centred innovation.
Our second most popular episode was IP and Femtech with Emily Collins, a Partner at Kilburn and Strode, and Kristeen Beverloo, Chief IP council at FemTech pioneers, Elvie. Emily and Kristeen spoke about female innovators, the gender gap within inventing and gender diversity within patenting.
Lee and Gwilym celebrated their 100th episode of Two IPs In a Pod by chatting with Vice-President, Matt Dixon, in a special pubcast recorded in The Lamb, in Bloomsbury. Matt shared his priorities for the year ahead, including his determination to put a UK stamp on the Unified Patent Court and to challenge any attempts to erect barriers to qualification as a European Patent Attorney.
Other podcast highlights from 2023 included: an episode in January which looked at enhancing diversity in the patent profession; IP and comedy in February with stand-up comedian Ollie Horn; a series of Earthshot episodes featuring CIPA nominees to Prince William’s Earthshot Prize and a special report from an Earthshot summit in New York featuring the voices of Prince William and Bill Gates and interviews with CIPA-nominated winners and finalists.
